Morocco-China agreement on cooperation, trade & tourism

HRH King Mohammed VI and HE. Xi Jinping established a strategic partnership between the two countries aiming to help Chinese companies to set up in Morocco and to promote cooperation between Chinese and Moroccan companies in the automotive, textiles / clothing, appliances, aerospace and logistics sectors. In a move to cut red tape for mutual investment, exemption of certain categories of visas and simplification of mutual issuance of certain categories of visa procedures were agreed.

 

This MoU aims visa exemption for holders of “Passport for Public Affairs” and Chinese “special passport” issued by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Morocco, and the facilitation of issuing procedures visas for Chinese nationals wishing to visit Morocco for tourism purposes and Moroccan businessmen and Chinese ordinary passport holders.

 

Other areas of cooperation include China Railways and Moroccan rail operator ONCF, infrastructure construction, a cultural cooperation program (2016-2020), geology and mining, a SWAP agreement currency between the Central Banks of the two countries, oil and energy, safety of imported and exported food products and  Science, Technology and Defense.

 

A tourism cooperation agreement was also reached, particularly through the promotion promotional activities by providing the necessary facilities on the basis of reciprocity, the training of professionals in the field of tourism, organization internships and exchange of experts and collaboration between travel agencies and national tourism offices.
